According to the SINOCES organizing committee– the largest consumer electronics show in the Asia-Pacific region, the theme of SINOCES 2008 is confirmed as ‘Connected Anytime, Anywhere’. This theme tries to explain that internet has become a platform for connecting electronic equipment to all consumer electronic equipment and can be freely connected to the internet, which means consumers are entering into a new era of “Individual Internet” and will enjoy the convenient life that free connection brings about.
It is seen that with the fast development of network technology and the rapid growth of digital content industry, network content is now a major force driving the development of consumer electronics connection technology. At the present time, a fundamental change is underway with respect to the connection between consumer electronics. Breakthroughs have been achieved on the existing connection mode and integration with network content at the core is on the horizon. As far as the connection objective is concerned, it has evolved from the single computer content to all the consumer electronics including TV, handset, MP3, digital camera, play station, vehicular equipment etc…
The trend underlying the said theme finds favor with global consumer electronic businesses. Personnel from the organizing committee said, “This year, many businesses are eager to participate in the show and they hope to take advantage of another opportunity in internet reforms to the consumer electronics industry”. Many leading consumer electronics businesses including Panasonics, HP, Oracle, GE, Dolby, Toshiba, Blue-ray Disc, Haier, TCL, Changhong and IGRS intend to participate and exhibit consumer electronics products related to internet connections. On the other hand, procurement powers such as Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Carrefour, Gome and Sunning will be present seeking for procurement opportunities and opportunities related to 2008 Olympics.
Experts in the industry pointed out that China has become the largest consumer electronics manufacturing base in the world and the second largest global consumer electronics market only behind the US. SINOCES, as a consumer electronics show of the highest caliber in the Asia-Pacific region, is a major force driving the integration and development of consumer electronics in the eastern and western hemispheres. The theme ‘Connected Anytime, Anywhere’ is not only a pertinent summary of the existing trend of the consumer electronics industry, but also a bellwether for future development in the industry. It points out the direction in development for consumer electronics businesses (especially Chinese businesses) standing at the crossroad. At the same time, it will push forward the development of industrial technologies including wireless broadband technology, “Three-in-one” network technology, broadband processing technology so as to expedite the regulation and reform of industrial structures and speed up the progress of consumer electronics based on network-based, digitalized and connected consumer electronics.
As the overseas sponsor of SINOCES and the sponsor of CES in the US, CEA attaches great importance to the event. Gary Shapiro, president of CEA, said, the theme ‘Connected Anytime, Anywhere’ implies the availability of content to be enjoyed by future consumers, which coincides with the industrial trend promoted by CES. In 2008, CEA will deepen its cooperation with SINOCES. In order to present more innovative exhibits, CEA will bring CES award-winning innovative and new products to SINOCES. Besides, CEA will also contribute environmental protection exhibition zone and environmental protection forum to SINOCES.
SINOCES is the only State Council approved professional and international expo for the consumer electronics industry in China and it is also the only professional consumer electronics exhibition certified and promoted by the US government in Asia-Pacific region and the only exhibition seeking strategic cooperation with the CES – the largest of its kind in the world. Furthermore, the scope of exhibits for this year covers the complete consumer electronics industry, including home AV, digital home, home appliance, software application and solutions, storage solutions, portable office equipment, mobile communication equipment, digital content, software applications & solutions, security products, automobile electronics etc. It is estimated that the exhibition area will be as large as 37,000m2 and more than 450 businesses will enroll themselves, which makes this session of SINOCES the largest in scale and the highest in quality.
